As we celebrate 25 years of advancing French-American philanthropy, Friends of Fondation de France proudly reflects on the transformative generosity of our donors. From natural disasters to tragic incidents of mass violence, international emergencies require united global support—and through our longstanding collaboration with Fondation de France, we’ve helped channel American generosity into impactful emergency response and recovery efforts worldwide.
Fondation de France’s locally-led, collaborative approach sets it apart, enabling rapid response within hours of a crisis. Decades of experience and a robust global network of local nonprofit partners ensure effective communication and coordination—not only during immediate relief but throughout sustained, long-term recovery.
Here’s a look back at the transformative campaigns our donors have supported.

2016 – Nice Terror Attack Relief
Following the July 14 terror attack in Nice, France, which claimed 86 lives and left many others injured, an extraordinary outpouring of solidarity came from across the Atlantic. Friends of Fondation de France facilitated nearly $1.5 million in donations from American supporters, enabling Fondation de France to provide victims and their families, as well as initiatives aimed at preventing future violence.
2017 – Caribbean Hurricane Recovery

2022 – Humanitarian Relief for Ukraine
Since the start of the war in February 2022, Fondation de France has supported over 180 relief and recovery initiatives across Ukraine and neighboring countries, facilitating psychosocial support, education access for children with disabilities, livelihood programs for displaced families, and legal assistance for victims of war crimes. On December 14, an unprecedented storm known as Cyclone Chido struck the island of Mayotte. 40% of all housing on the island was decimated, while access to water and power was severed for thousands.
