Three Americans at Verdun: Keeping the Memory of WWI Alive with Mémorial de Verdun
In the American memory of WWI, the decisive moment is April 1917, marking the date the United States officially entered the war. But the story
On February 6, 2023, two earthquakes of unprecedented magnitude struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, causing devastating loss of life and widespread damage to homes and infrastructure.
In response, Fondation de France mobilized to support local Turkish and Syrian organizations that have long been active in the region. Thanks to generous donor support, over €11 million has been allocated to 108 initiatives, providing immediate relief and essential aid, as well as ongoing support including psychological assistance, education, and programs to help families rebuild their livelihoods and promote economic recovery. Fondation de France has continued to support recovery efforts in the region since 2023.
Thanks to its experience in the region and its extensive network of local partners, Fondation de France support projects providing:
• immediate emergency relief to help the victims,
• long-term recovery aid in a second phase (such as livelihood and psychological support and collective building rehabilitation).
Friends of Fondation de France donors can help the populations affected by the earthquakes by supporting immediate needs, as well as long term recovery.
