Fondation INSERM

supporting the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research

Mission & Vision

Fondation Inserm is the partner foundation of Inserm, the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research.

Our purpose is to support Inserm’s research missions by developing and expanding health and biomedical research and scientific knowledge.

Actions Led

At the Inserm Foundation, we support research in all its forms and across every discipline. Together with our partners, donors, and patrons, we strive to tackle today’s health challenges while anticipating those of tomorrow.

Our Priorities

  • Strengthening research capacity
We link health, major societal issues, and medical research by bringing together experts from diverse fields and fostering collaboration to drive impactful discoveries.
  • Partnering with donors and patrons
We cultivate strong, transparent relationships with our supporters, offering tailored project opportunities and regular reporting on the use and impact of funds. Inserm’s unique network of hundreds of laboratories and nine thematic institutes ensures access to innovative, high-potential projects.
  • Contributing to health debates
Beyond biomedical research, we address broader issues—urban planning, environment, nutrition, and combating misinformation. By mobilizing experts across disciplines, we promote trusted knowledge and strengthen public health action.

Together, we can meet the great health challenges of our time and shape a healthier future for all.

Projects That U.S. Donors Can Support

Fondation Inserm supports Inserm research programs.

Inserm, a public interest organization, is one of the world’s leading medical research organizations dedicated to fundamental biology, healthcare technologies and public health. It covers the entire pathway from research laboratory to patient’s bedside.

Our projects are deployed along 4 axes:

  • Health and environment: to study and respond to environmental change effects on our health
  • Vulnerable populations’ health: to develop research on pathologies such as endometriosis and promote a better access to health
  • Chronic diseases: to respond to the increase of chronic diseases and specifically the ones linked to cardiovascular pathologies through preventive actions
  • Quality information: to give access, especially for young people, to quality health information to reinforce their autonomy and better manage their health.
