Founded in 1919 by the legendary pianist Alfred Cortot, the École Normale de Musique de Paris (ENMP) has spent more than a century shaping generations of exceptional musicians. Today, it stands as one of Europe’s most respected private institutions dedicated to artistic excellence in higher music education.
Internationally renowned, the school provides elite training in instrumental performance, conducting, composition, and vocal studies, and continues to uphold the highest standards of the French musical tradition.
With more than 70% of its students coming from abroad, the ENMP is a vibrant center of cultural exchange, where artistic traditions meet and new musical dialogues emerge. Its international outlook has long been central to its mission: to train the next generation of musicians while fostering openness, diversity, and cross-cultural understanding.
Building on this legacy, the ENMP is now strengthening its transatlantic ties, developing academic and artistic partnerships with leading institutions in the United States.
To further its mission, the Association École Normale de Musique de Paris supports initiatives that broaden access to elite music education, advance French-American cultural exchange, encourage artistic innovation, and sustain musical excellence across generations and borders.
Scholarships for Outstanding Students
To ensure that talent and artistic potential—not financial means—determine access to excellence, the ENMP seeks to fund scholarships for highly talented students wishing to pursue their studies at the École Normale de Musique de Paris.
These scholarships amount to €15,000 per student year and cover tuition fees as well as part of living expenses. They enable promising young musicians to receive world-class training in Paris, while fully engaging in the School’s international and multicultural environment.
Support for Transatlantic Academic and Artistic Projects
In parallel, the ENMP is committed to developing transatlantic initiatives in close partnership with American institutions. These projects aim to deepen cultural and educational exchanges between Europe and the United States through music.
Supported initiatives may include:
These programs foster long-term cooperation, encourage the circulation of ideas and talent across the Atlantic, and contribute to building a shared future for classical music grounded in dialogue and mutual understanding.
The École Normale de Musique de Paris-US Music Fellowship Initiative supports the development of strategic partnerships between the École Normale de Musique de Paris (ENMP) and leading American music institutions, with the aim of fostering artistic excellence, cultural dialogue, and international mobility. U.S. donors can strengthen the bridge between Paris and the United States by funding collaborative projects such as joint masterclasses, faculty exchanges, academic partnerships, and performance opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic.
A core mission of the program is to provide promising young American musicians with access to the ENMP’s world-renowned training through merit-based scholarships. These fellowships allow exceptional talents to study in Paris, immerse themselves in the French musical tradition, and benefit from the school’s prestigious artistic environment.
By investing in these exchanges, U.S. donors support the next generation of global artists, enrich the international network of the ENMP, and contribute to the long-term vitality of cultural relations between France and the United States. Ultimately, this support aims to expand opportunities for emerging musicians, promote excellence at an international level, and ensure that Paris remains a vibrant destination for the highest artistic aspirations.
