Since its founding in 1980, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL has served as a frontline responder for populations facing conflicts, epidemics, and climate-induced disasters. Rooted in the conviction that “solidarity is the first response to suffering,” our organization operates under core values of humanity, independence, impartiality, and neutrality. Every intervention is conducted at the request of affected communities and in partnership with local actors, ensuring respect, relevance, and ethical rigor.
Over more than 40 years, we have conducted over 500 humanitarian missions in nearly 40 countries, constantly adapting our interventions to the scale and nature of crises. We adapt our interventions to the specific context, whether sudden or protracted, severe or localized, prioritizing speed, effectiveness, and sensitivity to local needs and social dynamics. Grounded in dignity and autonomy, our mission is not only to provide emergency relief but also to lay the groundwork for resilience, helping communities transition from crisis toward lasting development.
When emergencies occur, whether through armed conflicts, climate disasters, or epidemics, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL deploys rapidly to provide lifesaving assistance. Each year, we deliver clean drinking water to more than 4 million people, build or rehabilitate thousands of latrines, and ensure access to safe shelter for tens of thousands of families. Our priority is always to act with efficiency, humanity, and respect for dignity.
Fighting waterborne diseases remains a vital strand of our work. Cholera alone kills up to 143,000 people annually worldwide, most of them children. To reduce these risks, our teams rehabilitate wells, distribute household water filters, and set up water treatment systems. Alongside, we invest in sanitation by constructing latrines and implementing safe waste management.
Food insecurity is another urgent challenge. Each year, our programs support over 500,000 people with food distributions, vouchers, or cash transfers, while also helping farmers recover through seed and tool distribution, livestock support, and training. These efforts address immediate hunger while building livelihoods that sustain families long after crises subside.
Finally, beyond emergency response, our long-term actions rehabilitate water networks, strengthen local governance, and promote sustainable farming systems. By combining immediate relief with resilience-building, we help communities move forward with restored dignity, autonomy, and hope.
US donors can support SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL in protecting lives and restoring dignity for communities facing war, epidemics, and climate disasters by supporting the following projects:
By backing these efforts, US donors can stand alongside millions of people striving not only to survive but to recover and build a more secure future.
