Mission & Vision
As the first French public-interest foundation dedicated to culture, the Royaumont Foundation has supported intellectuals and artists for more than 60 years. Founded in 1964 by Henry and Isabel Goüin, the Foundation continues to foster artistic creation, dialogue, and innovation at Royaumont Abbey and beyond its walls, bringing together music, dance, and the human sciences.
Actions Led
Every year, nearly 60,000 visitors discover Royaumont during concerts, visits to the historic monument, workshops, and a wide array of cultural events celebrating music, dance, and the human sciences. The Foundation also reaches over 15,000 children through educational programs that inspire and engage. For artists, Royaumont offers residencies, professional training through the Royaumont Campus program, and a stage through the Royaumont Season, creating a space for collaboration, experimentation, and sharing work locally and internationally.
Projects That U.S. Donors Can Support
U.S. donors can support Royaumont’s artistic projects through Friends of Fondation de France, contributing to two meaningful initiatives that support artists:
- La Fabrique Royaumont is a one-of-a-kind residency supporting emerging artists with expert mentorship, access to Royaumont Abbey’s inspiring setting, and full use of its facilities and library resources. With over 500 applications received in 2025, your support allows Royaumont to welcome more talent from around the world.
- The Royaumont Season features 28 concerts and performances from September to June, showcasing emerging artists and renowned performers at Royaumont Abbey and beyond, through partnerships across France and internationally. The Season includes new commissions from emerging international composers each year and embraces more sustainable, forward-looking formats in response to today’s artistic challenges.
