As one of France’s most prestigious academic institutions, Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, also known as Paris 1, is a public research university renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and its deep connection to the rich intellectual history of Paris. Fondation Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, established in 2017, is dedicated to advancing and supporting projects that benefit the university’s esteemed faculty, researchers, and students, as well as the historic architectural and cultural sites dating back to the school’s founding in the 13th century, where they work and study.
The Foundation is not only devoted to preserving and sharing the university’s unique legacy but also to fostering innovative connections between academic knowledge and business acumen, enduring heritage and tomorrow’s visionaries, and public and private stakeholders.
Fondation Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne supports and develops major university events, research projects, student initiatives, and heritage enhancement projects through the support of donors and public and private partners.
The Foundation plays a crucial role in fostering a dynamic and productive academic environment. With 37 research units and a robust community of over 1,500 faculty and researchers, the university is a hub of scholarly activity. The institution hosts around 300 conferences and symposia each year, contributing to a vibrant exchange of ideas.
By supporting dedicated research chairs, the foundation advances research that explores the relationship between artworks and their conservation and transmission, addresses ethical challenges in digital media, and examines the evolving relationship between social economy and social protection. Additionally, it is committed to expanding public access to cultural heritage and promoting sustainable practices in the cultural sector.
The Foundation supports initiatives developed by student associations, which are just as vital as research projects. These associations bring the University to life, rallying students around common causes and helping to broaden their global perspective. The Foundation encourages diverse, high quality projects in the fields of solidarity, arts and culture, debate and eloquence, knowledge promotion, and building inclusive communities. Examples of support include the University’s Contemporary Art Prize, organized by a student association, as well as the hosting of conferences and simulations of international institution debates like those of the UN. It also backs initiatives such as food solidarity programs, public speaking training, and activities aimed at fostering social inclusion.
The Foundation supports several projects such as research chairs and student projects that serve the public interest and enable the university to raise its profile internationally. The grant would also help the cultural heritage preservation such as the architectural heritage of la Sorbonne and its great frescos.
By supporting the Foundation, donors contribute to the nurturing of future leaders, the advancement of groundbreaking research, and the safeguarding of 800 years of cultural heritage that inspires countless individuals worldwide.
