Fondation ID+ Lorraine

Mission & Vision

Fondation ID+ Lorraine was established in 2021 with the mission of supporting and advancing scientific cooperation across the Lorraine region. Its purpose is to contribute to the missions of both the University of Lorraine and the Nancy Regional University Hospital Center (CHRU) by fostering research and promoting the region’s visibility in research, innovation, and education—ultimately strengthening its overall attractiveness.

The foundation is composed of 17 founding members, united by a shared commitment to serving the public interest. Together, they work to promote academic success for all, nurture the region’s entrepreneurial spirit, and cultivate excellence in both research and innovation.

The foundation is guided by three core values:

• Openness: While being deeply rooted in the regional context, the foundation is open to society, particularly in the socio-economic world. It seeks to foster and innovativ3e and collective dynamic of scientific cooperation to enhance the attractiveness of the region of Lorraine.
• Excellence: The foundation promotes and support high-quality and innovative scientific, clinical, and educational research, aligned with the needs of the socio-economic world. 
• Commitment: The foundation is committed to equal opportunities, student mobility, and success, graduate employability and entrepreneurship, social action, and health support. Through the foundation, its members express their shared commitment to developing projects and missions of public interest that respond to today’s major societal challenges.

Actions Led

Since its creation in 2011, Fondation ID+ Lorraine has raised over $8 million, enabling the funding of a wide range of projects spanning science and technology, health, and management.

The foundation supports research that tackles major societal challenges by offering innovative solutions to environmental, energy, and digital transitions, as well as to pressing issues in the health sector. All of this is made possible through strong regional cooperation, with a focus on knowledge dissemination and collaborative efforts.

Fondation ID+ Lorraine operates through three main areas of intervention:

• Share: promoting equal opportunities in education, regardless of social background or disability
  • The Dan Germiquet Fund provides scholarships to support geology students at ENSG (École Nationale Supérieure de Géologie)
• Develop: fostering innovation, creativity, and professional integration through entrepenregup and science outreach.
• Advance: supporting a diverse portfolio of research projects and academic chairs, spanning  the hard sciences, societal challenges, and the agroecological transition amongst others.
  • Centre Pierre Janet: France’s first university center dedicated to research, training, and psychotherapeutic consultation in psychology.
