Mission & Vision

Named after the mathematician and philosopher Augustin Cournot (1801-1877), Fondation Cournot supports interdisciplinary research in economics and mathematics. It promotes research in probability, both theoretical and applied, and encourages interdisciplinary work in fields that develop probabilistic reasoning, to continue Cournot’s pioneering research.

Actions Led

Fondation Cournot supports research in probabilistic reasoning and the development of educational programs aimed at introducing probabilities to students ranging from middle school to university. It also awards prizes and scholarships to facilitate the development of research programs, academic programs, and publications of scholarly research. Finally, Fondation Cournot organizes events centered around interdisciplinary probabilistic research, fostering the exchange of ideas and setting the stage for scientific innovation.
