Comité Français d’Histoire de l’Art (CFHA)

fosters collaboration, dialogue, and advancement of art historical scholarship on a global scale

Mission & Vision

The Comité Français d’Histoire de l’Art (CFHA) is dedicated to advancing the study, appreciation, and dissemination of art history in France and worldwide. Its mission is to promote dialogue and collaboration among scholars, researchers, and cultural professionals, while supporting research, publications, and educational initiatives that enrich understanding of art across all periods and regions.

Actions Led

The Comité Français d’Histoire de l’Art (CFHA) plays a central role in advancing the study and visibility of art history in France and abroad. Through conferences, study days, and cultural visits, CFHA creates spaces for dialogue and exchange among scholars, students, and professionals across disciplines. The organization serves as a vital forum on current debates in the field and contributes to shaping the future of art history.

CFHA actively supports research by awarding prizes, fellowships, and grants to students and researchers, encouraging publication, and contributing to the development of major scholarly projects such as Corpus Vitrearum. It also oversees the prestigious Revue de l’Art and partners with leading institutions to strengthen the production and dissemination of art historical knowledge.
