250 Years of Friendship: A Brief History of French-American Philanthropy
As we approach the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, and of the special friendship between our two nations, we reflect on
Monumental Goose Game is a large-scale, artist-led public art initiative created by artists Gwendoline Finaz de Villaine and Pauline Lévêque, developed to commemorate 250 years of friendship between France and the United States.
Conceived as a contemporary and immersive reinterpretation of the historic Goose Game, the project transforms public space into a shared cultural platform that is accessible, participatory, and inclusive.
The installation will be presented on Madison Avenue in New York on July 12, 2026, and on September 19, 2026 on the Parvis du Trocadéro in Paris, inviting audiences to physically engage with a monumental painted ground composition activated through play. By combining urban-scale painting, sculptural elements, and participatory design, the work explores themes of democracy, civic engagement, chance, and collective movement.
The project is supported by Allyance (a French non-profit organization, Association loi 1901) and benefits from the institutional support of Alliance New York, Villa Albertine, and the City Hall of Paris 16th District (Mairie du 16ᵉ arrondissement).
The project is structured around five core pillars:
By supporting Monumental Goose Game, donors contribute to an ambitious cultural
initiative that activates public space, strengthens Franco-American ties, and demonstrates the power of contemporary art to create shared, meaningful experiences across communities
U.S. donors can support the development of artistic projects with strong cultural, social, and territorial impact, and activities promoting the dissemination of artistic works and cultural mediation to diverse audiences, including young people, students, and universities, both in France and internationally, while fostering intercultural exchange.
