NEW YORK, N.Y. (November 1, 2023) – This Giving Tuesday, Friends of Fondation de France will inspire generosity by participating, once again, in the global generosity movement on November 28, 2023.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on November 28, 2023, and throughout the year.

Friends of Fondation de France is committed to facilitating cross-border giving, supporting global philanthropy, and raising awareness on causes that have a global impact. This year, the focus is on five projects:

  • Friends of Fondation de France: Our organization supports more than 130 international projects in the United States. They focus on all causes, from academic research to arts and culture, human rights, the environment, and more. By making a donation, you facilitate cross-border giving and allow those nonprofits to get the best possible support to raise awareness and funds.
  • The Hermione Ship: Repairs are needed before this historical frigate can travel to the United States:  degradation of wood on the hull has been discovered and attributed to breeding fungi. The next steps include dismantling the hull and repairing and replacing the damaged parts. By making a donation, you can support funding the restoration of the boat and hopefully its return to the United States in 2026!
  • Emergency relief: With decades of experience in the field, Fondation de France has been able in the past 18 months to efficiently deliver emergency support to areas such as Ukraine, Turkey-Syria, Morocco, and Armenia. Vital resources have been provided for people in critical conditions, and work is still going on to support long-term recovery. Your donations effectively change the lives of those afflicted by a sudden tragedy.
  • Biomedical research: International collaboration is key to advancing medical and scientific research. By donating to projects like Cardiovascular Diseases Program at Fondation de France, Fondation Gustave Roussy, Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale, Fondation CNRS, Institut Imagine, Paris Brain Institute, Fondation pour l’Epidemiologie de la Grippe and Fondation Lumière to name a few, you support research all over the world.
  • Gastronomy: French food is good, and an integral part of French culture. By donating to organizations such as Fondation Lyfe or Cuisine Modes d’Emploi, you support the future of gastronomy by allowing the training of future chefs or promoting upward social mobility.

“GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year,” explained Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. “With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.”

GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past ten years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

People demonstrate generosity in many ways on GivingTuesday. Whether it’s helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving to causes we care about, every act of generosity counts. GivingTuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets 21 billion impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them and encouraging others to get involved in their communities.
