The Cité de la Musique – Philharmonie de Paris is a major musical venue that promotes access to musical knowledge and practice. The Philharmonie de Paris presents orchestras, musical exhibitions, and workshops, with the aim of bringing all kinds of music to all kinds of people. Demos, an educational project, started in 2010 and focuses on orchestral musicianship. Children in underprivileged and rural areas are given the opportunity to practice a musical instrument and join a symphonic orchestra. There are currently 50 Demos orchestras in France, including 5,000 children. To read more about the ways Demos is helping children read this post.
In the future, Demos would like to expand into rural areas and new French territories. They are also planning a trip to the United States!
